Who is at Risk of getting a Concussion?

Anyone can be at risk of getting a concussion due to the fact that most of us walk or get in a car every single day. You could trip and fall and get one or get into a vehicle accident. Falls can occur when someone isn't paying attention or they twist their ankle. The young and the elderly are the most susceptible when it comes to such falls. The distance doesn't have to be far either for a concussion to occur.

Even at a low rate of speed, someone can end up with a concussion. This is due to the way the impact can push the head and neck in ways it shouldn't. Wearing a seat belt can significantly reduce the possibility of someone experiencing a concussion should they be involved in a vehicle accident that gives them a jolt.

If you take part in sports such as bike riding or being on skateboard you can increase your risk. The use of recreational vehicles including motorcycles can also lead to a concussion. One way to significantly reduce that risk is with a good fitting helmet. Anyone that takes part in contact sports also is at a high risk of a concussion. Wearing the proper equipment and following all safety rules can significantly reduce that risk.

Being in the military can be very challenging, and there are plenty of exercises that can result in a concussion. For those that are on the front lines in battle, that risk is even higher. Even with all the special training they are given, it can still occur. Victims of domestic violence are also at risk if a concussion. They may be hit with an object, slammed into walls, or shaken.

Anyone that has previously experienced a concussion is at an increased risk of it occurring again. The next time, it may not take as severe of a blow to the brain to create the same or worse effects. This is why so many people are strongly encouraged to do all they can to prevent even one concussion from ever occurring.

Health:

"Give me health and a day," wrote the poet-philosopher Emerson. Conventional wisdom believes that health is a treasure, the most precious, and instinctively we all seek to be and stay healthy (albeit not always translate into the proper way to look it up). But what is health? Why is it so important?, Well, we start with the classical definitions, considering the offers we described by the World Health Organization, in the sense that this is a welfare state on the physical, mental and social, that is not merely the absence of disease in the conventional sense of the word.
